Windsave domestice wind turbines - public meeting at Craignure Hall

24/2/05

Mull and Iona Chamber of Commerce teamed up with Mull and Iona Community Trust on 24th February to organise a public meeting on behalf of the Renewable Energy Forum at Craignure on the subject of supplementary domestic wind turbines. A representative of Alienergy outlined the broad case for renewable energy development and the economic consequences if the world fails to tackle the problems of global warming adequately. The meeting then heard from a representative from Windsave who have developed a turbine that can be mounted on a house or workshop and which will supply electricity directly via an existing 13 amp plug directly into the property’s ringmain, thus reducing the consumption drawn from the mains.

This meeting, on a typical February night, was attended by 45 people from all over Mull. Latest news is that Windsave will be appointing an accredited agent on Mull
