Minutes of Meeting at the Isle of Mull Hotel, 6th October 2008

 

Present – Sandy Brunton, Michael Ackerely, Jane Gordon, Brendan       

                 Walsh

 

Apologies – Derek Crook

 

Matters arising from last meeting - Committee was inquorate. All decisions that need acceptance will be discussed at next meeting.

Minutes from August meeting were acknowledged as being correct.

 

PostComm – Sandy thanked everyone for their help. Sandy to follow up a letter sent by Nigel Stapleton. It was agreed the PostComm meeting had been very successfully.

 

Ferry – Discussed how to promote the DVD on single track driving and get it played more. Sandy to talk to Iain Erskine.

 

KMM – very little to report. A decision needs to be taken on how we can improve our roads and how this campaign is best run.

 

Report from Ferry Committee – Bowman’s unhappy about the lack of consultation of the new CalMac timetable.

 

Food Initiative

Discussed the possibility of holding a much bigger Networking event in January or February.  It was decided to invite people who may be interested and have relevant experience, to our next meeting. This will provide an agenda for the meeting in 2009 and a framework for parties interested in promoting Mull Food, eg CalMac, MSP, Argyll Food Forum.

AP – Jane to co-ordinate

          Michael to ask Isle of Mull Hotel the possibility of holding  

Networking event – 2 provisional dates discussed-

 

 

Roads – the continuing problem of getting the roads properly repaired was discussed.

It also came to light that because of the weight of the tar lorries, cars and other vehicles were sometimes bumped onto other ferries because the cargo weight of the ferry had been achieved.

AP – Sandy to follow up KMM.

 

 Treasurer  - Account in credit £4222.34

 

AOB  - A Mull radio station is being set up by Adrian Fitness

 

            Oban airport figures are down by 60%. Brendan informed the Committee of the continuing problems with the Airport.
