Minutes of the meeting held on 3rd December 2007 in Craignure Hall

PRESENT:

MINUTES:

Corrections to November minutes

1.       Georgia was present

2.       Business to Business Networking – date not fixed

3.       AGM – Will be held on a different date to the networking event but will be promoted at the event

 

MATTERS ARISING:

Georgia was awaiting a reply from another candidate for the administration job.

The Chamber’s board meetings will now be taking place at the Isle of Mull Hotel, starting in January.  <Georgia> will send details to R&A and Am Muileach

CalMac – Michael has composed a letter to CalMac concerning connections between ferry & trains and the breakdown of the ramp.  <Georgia>  is to contact Hugh McPhee about the animation about single track roads to be shown onboard the ferry.

 

TRAVEL EXPO:

John Cable contacted Sandy to say that Holiday Mull will be attending the Expo.  John & Michelle McLean from Iona will be organising.  <Georgia> to email members to ask for volunteers.

NETWORKING EVENT:

The manager of the Isle of Mull Hotel will help publish the event & give a talk about the hotel & its new swimming pool/health suite. 

 

Sandy has spoken to Norman Quirk, Chairman and president of Scottish Chambers of Commerce who has agreed to be a speaker if he is available.  The date for the event has been set for 20th February 12-3pm.

 

<Georgia & Sandy> produce poster/advert and will be points of contact for the public.  Michael & Brendan will be liaising with the hotel

 

ROYAL MAIL:

Alan Reid MP has asked Westminster Parliament about the delay to Mull’s mail & papers.

 

Sandy suggested that the newspapers go back to being brought over on the first ferry with any available mail and any later mail can be delivered the following day.

 

AGM:

To be discussed in January

 

TREASURER:

Michael reported a balance of £4457.74

 

 

AOCB:

Brendan gave an update on the situation at Oban Airport regarding night time refuelling.
